Traveler Reviews on Aberdeen

Copthorne Hotel

Booked the room through late rooms so got a good deal but would have been very unhappy to have paid the full rate. The check in wasn’t good - I had to interrupt the two staff members’ conversation to ask for my room key (my wife had previously checked in) and when I got the key I asked if I... more

Ate here yesterday evening - food & service very good, although the bill was wrong, but swiftly corrected. A word of warning though - apparently they "don't do tap water" which I think is just outrageous (didn't make a fuss because the evening was a catch-up with an old friend & I didn't want to spoil it). Also, my guest... more

Arrived at the hotel in the middle of a snow storm - no heating on in the room, was like walking into a freezer. Came back after dinner and had a drink in the bar - tasted like it was a week old! Went to bed at 11pm but couldn't sleep due to music coming from downstairs. Phoned reception to... more

Aberdeen Marriott Hotel

On arrival the exterior of this property does very little to draw you in; for those old enough (and probably British only) there is something very 'Crossroads Motel' about it and the patio windows overlooking the carpark (and swimmong pool - more of that later) further confuse the look. Once inside you are met my warm colours, upscale furnishings and... more

I stayed at this hotel last week for work, supposedly at a preferred rate for my company. I was shocked that for 175 pounds a night, neither breakfast nor internet were included! Breakfast was 15.75, even if you only wanted cereal and tea and internet was 10 pounds for 4 hours (and logging out doesn't stop the clock!). The first... more

We have dined here many times and it is always amazing food, in great surroundings and with a fantastic atmosphere. Unpretentious menu uses locally sourced ingredients cooked to perfection!! There are always specials on so even if you go more frequently there is something different to try. The wine list is good too with the house wine being very reasonably... more

There aren't many good Chinese restaurants in Aberdeen, and this is fairly decent. It's in a great location, above the Academy shopping centre off Belmont Street. The food is pretty much as you'd expect, not really outstanding. It's always very busy and is good for large groups. more

The hotel is generally dated and tired looking, with the staff on reception being fairly slow and unfriendly, but the real problems are in the resturant. the service in the resturant is shockingly bad. the staff we're avoiding the customers in the resturant, everyone had to wait a long time to order and get thier food. I had to knock... more

This place is the place for the residentials of the Aberdeen Food is good - particularly the various Fish. The portioning of chips on one plate per table is a bit mean but otherwise service good and no complaints more

Cults Hotel

We attended a function and stayed overnight in the annex. Very good and large room with sound proofing, so little noise got through. Food at the function was good, as was the breakfast, where the portions were large and service swift and friendly. Staff helpful throughout. Drink prices at the 'do' were a little expensive. When booking in and checking... more

This is a really poor place. I paid £75 for the priviledge and would make strenuous efforts not to stay here again. It is an armpit; advertised as offering full breakfast, but this is a tray of food in your room. The shared bathrooms have not been cleaned, with mould on the curtain and stains on the walls. The shower... more

I recently wrote the Thistle Altens was the best hotel in Aberdeen. I would like to amend my comment. Beautiful, comfortable and spotless clean rooms. Looks tired outside but the inside is very elegant and has obviously recently refurbished. Amenities are great as well, with a modern bar, cosy sofas around the fireplace, great restaurant choice and a truly wonderful... more

Absolutely delicious food! The first time I have tried a seafood pasta dish and it was lovelly. The freindly and funny staff might not be italian, but they were excellent. Huge Italian kitchen style tables and chairs were much more comfortable than Poldinos (which is good, but not a patch on Rusticos). Cant wait to go again! more

THE PRIME CUTS

We both ordered the T-bone, I asked for RARE and my partner asked for Medium/Rare. My steak arrived WELL DONE, although my partners was fine. I asked for another steak and they were very appologetic, but by the time my second steak arrived my partner had almost finished (no offer to keep it warm while I waited!). The second steak... more

Wine came quick enough, but bread rolls took 25 mins! Sea Bass took around 1 HOUR! I watched as people arriving 20 mins after us were being served food and i was told Sea bas takes longer! Did they go and catch it? When it finaly arrived the underside was burnt to a crisp and my partners venison was not... more

I was recently in Aberdeen at a conference and the airfare to return on Friday evening was very expensive - so my husband suggested he should fly up on the Friday and we could have a weekend break. I looked at the Simpsons website and booked their weekend treat. After looking at some of the previous reviews I was a... more

This hotel has to be the worst I ever stayed in - The staff were all rude and abrupt.
