The Bank Guest House

5 of 5 stars
Channel Isles
Dec 2, 2008

My husband and I were lucky enough to have fairly randomly chosen The Bank for a one night stay in Hawick and we can honestly say that we weren't prepared for the level of luxury that met us. Every small request made was met and the general level of 'being looked after' was second to none. Donna no doubt had... more

Black Bull Hotel

Dec 1, 2008

What a great hotel, quaint and charming, but fully modern. Had a large room that was beautifully decorated. Unfortnately we discovered that we had lost our passports while we were there, and the staff did all they could to help us out. Oh, and the food was great too! more

Waverley Castle Hotel

Dec 1, 2008

Booked a 2 night stay via WA Shearings website at £84 per person (HB) for a family get together. Will agree with the previous reviewers, great location, polite and helpful staff, food was ok, entertainment was good, but the hotel is getting on a bit and is in need of a facelift. Would I go back again - Yes more

Peebles Hotel Hydro

Dec 1, 2008

We have just returned from a wonderful Christmas party evening at The Hydro. A great piece of advice is to ask for rooms 1,2,or three as these are the beautiful newly re-furbished rooms and are stunning with enormous bathrooms ,our friends did have one of the older rooms in the hotel and although very clean were looking older and jaded... more

Stobo Castle

Nov 29, 2008

My sister & me have stayed at Stobo several times it is the most relaxing break you can have, there is no pressure to have treatments or do anything, over ther years we have had treatments, I agree with a previous advisor that they can be expensive which in itself doesn't matter if it's good value however we have found... more

Peebles Hotel Hydro

Nov 28, 2008

The hotel has faded a bit over the years and it is really badly in need of a refurb. There are much fancier places to stay not far away. But it is difficult to beat the Hydro for a place where generations of families can have fun together under one roof . I spent the weekend with my elderly parents... more

The Bank Guest House

Nov 27, 2008

In the midst of average accomodation options this is a clean, welcoming, real value for money guest house which is like home from home. Donna is the most helpful and freindly owner you could ever wish to meet. This place has the wow factor and well worth a try if you should be up that way. If I was up... more

I can't fault the welcome we had when we arrived and the cottage is nice and great for a weekend away. The area is lovely and I can highly recommend a visit to Kelso where we found a couple of nice restaurants. It is also only just over an hour's drive to Edinburgh. My only complaint is that you are... more

Last month (October) my mother, daughter and I stayed at the Bank Hotel in Hawick in the beautiful Scottish borders. We had seen pictures on the website but they didn't do justice to the magnificent transformation which the lovely Donna has done to the building which was built, if my memory serves me correctly, in 1857. Each room is so... more

Stopped overnight on our way to the north of Scotland. What a great find. Warm welcome from Mike. One of the best B & Bs we've stayed at. Modern, well-designed, comfortable bedroom, excellent en suite. Wonderful breakfast. Nothing too much trouble - great attention to detail. Great value for a 5* B & B! more

Lindores Guest House

Nov 22, 2008

The Lindores is a beautiful house, easy to find and centrally located, but quiet though. I've rarely seen a B&B in such an excellent condition, clean and nicely furnished. I appreciated these little extras like spring water and hot chocolate on the coffee tray, or fruit and muesli bars on the breakfast table. We paid 60GBP for a double room,... more

I stay at this hotel in the centre of Peebles, once a year with a large group of people. The hotel staff are exceptionally friendly and are always happy to accommodate us and provide us with above standard rooms and excellent food throughout our stay. Well located on the borders of Scotland with the most fantastic scenery and good walks.... more

We stayed here on the night of our wedding and it was a real treat. Although there was a slight problem with water pressure in our room the owner sorted it out quickly and made us up some pre-breakfast bucks fizz. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the building has a very comfortable feel to it. The breakfast is top... more

Nov 19, 2008

Lovely overnight with a friend for a catch-up without the husbands or children. Would agree with other reviews that the attic rooms are a little restricted - and cold! The manager said that the heating was not on full during the day - but in November at these prices it should have been. The food was excellent from the canapes... more

Booked a treat for my friends birthday, we stayed in the castle lodge which was lovely. We both enjoyed our treatments although some like the manicures seemed very expensive but we can highly recommend the thalgo treatments. Loved feeling relaxed in our dressing gowns all day. Only gripe would be at dinner there wasn't much atmosphere in the dining room... more

Cross Keys Hotel

Nov 18, 2008

Was not happy with the Cross keys at all, all too dated and although we as a group did not have too pay very much it was still too much, could not knock the area for mountain biking though, but will pay extra and stay somewhere else next time. more

I stayed for one night with my friend and we enjoyed the location, friendly staff and the hotel's freshness. This hotel is ideal if you want to get away from the busy city life you lead. Selkirk is great base to discover many attractions the Scottish Borders offers. The hotel is fresh, smart and modern in appearance. Ou room was... more
