We stayed at Criagdene at the end of November and we would highly recommend this B&B to others. The Georgian house is on the main street in Colinsburgh and is beautifully decorated. The welcome is warm and friendly and the facilities are great. We spend a relaxing evening in the lovely first floor sitting room enjoying the open fire and... more
I booked a weekend at Lathones as a surprise for my husband's 60th birthday. I was drawn to the hotel as it appeared to be unstuffy, comfortable and a little out of the ordinary. This impression turned out to be accurate. I loved the mix of styles, the olde worlde bar area was in complete contrast to the very modern... more
I offer small group tours in Scotland and we use the Spindrift quite often. The house is beautiful and very well run. We usually have dinner as well and the it is always very well presented and delicious! The rooms are well appointed and feel like home. What I like the best about visiting the Spindrift is that I do... more
By any standards Room with a View is a real find - a family run restaurant serving up its delicious seafood and locally sourced produce with quiet, friendly professionalism. I love its cosy dining room and imaginative menus and then there's that view - across the river Forth to Edinburgh and the Castle and all the way up to those... more
We booked a few nights in this Travelodge as it was close to where my cousin was getting married. It was clean and the room was plenty big enough for the two of us, shame there was no bar or breakfast facilitles. Would go again if it were just a few days but if it were for a holiday would... more
We stayed here for two nights in late October. A large hotel with a great drive up to the front door. The day we arrived it was windy and could not wait to try the facilities. Our room had a view of the water but what a noise from the wind it whistled all the time and it was hard... more
We picked this hotel based on what we read on tripadvisor, as we had to be in St Andrews on business. The hotel, even in winter, was lovely. The gardens were peaceful, the open fires warm and welcoming, excellent food etc but the thing that makes this place stand out from the crowd was the attitude of the staff. It... more
Took advantage of a 3 day break in November, 2008 and found it to be really good value. The room was adequate in size, clean and warm and the catering throughout was excellent. Staff were friendly and efficient and nothing appeared too much bother. The Hotel is also well situated between the golf course and the interesting town centre. Well... more
We can thoroughly recommend Ladywell House for B&B. We like traditional properties and the "home from home" approach and we certainly got that, sharing their family's living room with lots of memorabilia around, conversation by the fire in the evening with other guests. Full Scottish breakfast was in a bright garden conservatory, again a communal affair (all round a large... more
I generally lower my expectations in regards to a hotel slightly as the photos you'll find online and the reviews by web sites and travelers are not always accurate. I can honestly say this hotel exceeded my expectations in every way, as it was much more beautiful than I had anticipated, and the care was definitely that of the highest... more
Would totally recommend Sandilands B & B as a place for a short stay. Located just minutes from the beautiful Lundin Links beach and golf course, and within easy reach of 3 restaurants. I received a warm welcome from the hosts, Bronwyn and Brian, who were helpful throughout my stay, while at the same time provided me with a great... more
Stayed overnight for dinner Bed & breakfast, with Champagne &Truffles on arrival. Staff very friendly. Food in The Orangery superb for Dinner although for breakfast, food was ok but not warm enough for me. Rooms, although spotless, could do with a makeover. Has nice touches. Heavy snow during night was cleared from our cars before we left by the staff.... more
excellent accomadation food was really good and we were made welcome by all the staff more
Excellent location for exploring St Andrews and we managed to get a space in the free car park beside the hotel - but then this was November! Paid a little extra for a "superior" room - 213 on the 2nd floor. Nice, spacious room. We ate in the hotel that night which was reasonable in price but not great quality... more
Very nice hotel, although you can tell it's built based on a US design - there are no such hotels in Scotland... if you know what I mean. It'd be more natural situated in Arizona or something. The layout and space is very nice. The bar and restaurant are also very good, even if the service lacks a bit -... more
Having stayed at the Balbirnie a year ago my expectations were high, but unfortunately this time I was a little disappointed. The building itself is grand, but the room I was allocated seemed in need of a little TLC. The bathroom looked tired with some lightbulbs not working, and there was evidence of a leak from above (water runs, damp... more
Although Fairnie House is a solid Georgian building (close to the ruined Abbey and castle), it has a light contemporary feel inside. Our high-ceilinged, spacious, bedroom was pleasingly furnished in light woods and had all the conveniences (TV etc.) that we could possibly want. The en-suite bathroom also fitted the bill and was spotlessly clean with pleasing modern fittings. It... more
The Struan is an excellent B&B. Stayed for 2 nights and had a really relaxing weekend. The house is lovely with a large lounge and bedroom both beautifully decorated. Coral was a great host - she really has thought of everything: fresh flowers, a wee dram etc. Breakfast was fantastic, fresh fruit, cereal, croissants & full Scottish breakfast. We have... more
I have waited a while to write my review, as I have been waiting until I have the patience to write. There is a good point, but i'll leave that to the end. We organised to spend the weekend with the in-laws... yes as we all know can be sometimes stressful... and I the daughter in-law, I wanted to get... more
