Klagenfurt

5 of 5 stars
Cork, Ireland
Oct 12, 2008

I recently had an opportunity to visit Klagenfurt in Austria for 24 hours and what a lucky opportunity that was. We arrived there via a 90 minutes Ryanair flight direct from Stanstead. The airport is only a 10 minute taxi ride to the city centre. The airport is very small and as a result enjoys ease of access with none... more

Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Bleibergerhof

The Falkensteiner chain is a warranty of quality. I've been in other hotels in Carintia and always been happy. The hotel is not so nice when you arrive, but when you enter you feel like been in a familiar place. Standard rooms are not very large but really clean and nice. There's a nice pool with a too small whirlpool.... more

This modern Hostel on the outskirts of Klagenfurt is a modern building with excellent standards. In the hostel complex there is restaurant, terrace, bar, cofee bar, living room with TV. Plenty of tables and chairs in a nice garden setting, Reception has internet access where you can upload photos if required. There is on street parking and a little on... more

Hotel Sandwirth

This is a nice clean hotel. They offer a very nice breakfast buffet in the morning. They are in the process of expanding it so there is construction noise and there can be a lot of streat noise. The hotel is not air conditioned which is generally not a problem. This is a good hotel for business people given it's... more

This hotel is the most fantastic place I have ever stayed in and I can't wait to go back. The room was amazing with it's own mountain spring tap. So comfortable and the heat controls were easy to adjust. Food was superb. Tiny portions but so many of them that you were never hungry and all cooked to perfection. The... more

Arcotel Moser Verdino

Sep 26, 2008

I just returned from a 6 night stay at the Hotel Moser Verdino in Klagenfurt and wanted to write about it immediately. It really was above my expectations. The reception staff (especially Simona) was very friendly and helpful upon my arrival and throughout my stay. The housekeeping staff was also excellent. The room was cleaned promptly and left in spotless... more

There is only positive to say about this hotel. The personel is absolutely nice, helpful and flexible. The HB solution is the best one since the dinner costs only additional EUR 10.00 and you get a taste of the local delicious dishes. There are many extra things included in the price (bikes, sauna, pool, the entrance to 3 different beaches,... more

Just OK. Breakfast extra is a bit expensive. No easy parking if with a car: it's street, city centre parking slots. Can be loudish to the street side. Rooms not particularly large or airy, sort of darkish decor. Staff very friendly and helpful , though that should be standard anyway. more

Fergius Hotel Weissensee

Sep 18, 2008

The Weissensee during the month of September is like a fairytale! Most of the time the weather is perfect and nature is colourful. My sister and me came along to find a hotel along the coast of the Weissensee. We first tried to book rooms in Hotel Enzian, a nice hotel in the little village of Neusach, but they were... more

Went with Ramblers holidays - known for choosing good family run hotels. I had a magnificent room wth a balcony from which you could see the lake, though part of the view is obscured by a large building between the hotel and the lake. Most rooms have a balcony, and the location is very quiet, apart from a very noisy... more

Schloss Velden, a Capella Hotel

Sep 16, 2008

I recently had my wedding reception at the magnificent Schloss Velden. My grandmother was Austrian so there was a family link to the area. To say the hotel, facillities and staff were beyond superb is an understatement. This is the 1st time i have ever written a review but felt this hotel and staff should get the praise they deserve.... more

Gasthof Sonnblick

My husband and I stayed at Gasthof Sonnblick for a week in September 2008. We rented an apartment and were pleasantly surprised with how clean it was and the beautiful view of the town from our balcony. We spent many evenings on the balcony enjoying the great view. Our reservation was booked directly through email and they even made all... more

Austria Classic Hotel Weidenhof

As the experiences of the two previous reviewers of this hotel are poles apart, I thought I would add our comments. We have just returned from five nights at the Weidenhof and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. We had a room at the front of the hotel, above the terrace and although during the day there... more

Hotel Posthof

Sep 7, 2008

We stayed at the Posthoff Hotel Lake Millstatt Austria, from 20th August for one week this year. It has a good location, in an elevated position overlooking the lake. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Decor is a bit dated, but as it is an old hotel this is in keeping with its era. The owner Marcel is pleasant... more

We chose this town on route to venice and arrived in the middle of the annual festival which lasts a week. There was a great buzz in the town which added to our enjoyment with a great parade through the town of lots of national costumes and local bands. Villach is a small town but worth stopping at for 2-3... more

Romantik Hotel Post

Aug 15, 2008

The hotel certainly lived up to its name and exuded a romantic charm on its guests. It was situated right in the middle of the main pedestrian mall of Villach, convenient to shops and restaurants. The hotel apparently has a 500 years old history and has housed kings and royalties down the ages. Our room was not big, but was... more
