Die Krone Hotel is a wonderful small hotel right in the centre of the picturesque town of Staufen in the Black Forest region of Germany. The manager/hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Our spacious room was spotlessly clean, nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed and a terrace where we could watch the sunset over an evening drink. A very... more

Stayed here for two nights in April...hotel was incredible - very clean, rooms were extremely comfortable with large, modern bathrooms (amazing showers)...breakfast was great, service was top notch and the people were all wonderful. Staufen is a great town, close to many places but not touristy at all...would highly recommend a visit to this town and hotel...you can't beat it... more

As you can see from prior reviews, Die Krone is a great place to stay while in Staufen. It is located in the quiet, pedestrian area of town with close proximity to all shops and restaurants. We unfortunately did not eat at the hotel, but did eat at Kaesestube. This place was great. Excellent fondue and hearty German dinners with... more

I was a bit worried about traffic outside the hotel on booking it but the quiet pedestrian area makes this hotel a very peaceful place to get your head down for the night.. Value is outstanding. Eur 65/night including a great breakfast. Excellent service from the owners without being instrusive. WLAN was just being installed when I was there. Can't... more

My husband and I stayed at Die Krone for 4 nights in May of 2006. For the price (75 euro/night, breakfast included) you cannot beat the value. We had a room in the back with a balcony that provided a view of the castle ruins on the hill just outside the village. Wonderful to enjoy a drink there in the... more

We stayed at Die Krone for one night on our way south to Italy. It was a fantastic place for a stopover and we wished we had more time to explore the area. Staufen is a lovely little town with lots of flowers and painted buildings and has a real buzz about it. The Die Krone is right in the... more

My wife and I have stayed at the Zum Hirschen three times. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a simple "family-style" decor, and the staff has always been extremely helpful. The gentleman who manages the hotel and restaurant speaks English very well -- he spent a few years skiing the Rockies when he was younger -- and provided good... more

Just a quick note for anybody planning a trip around the blackforest area of Germany. Staufen is a small village with charming character and strong local histroy. The food, shops, wine, people and scenery are by far the most appealing I have come across in any part of Europe. This really is a special place in Germany. All around there... more

Staufen is worth the detour! It's a charming little town, devoted to wine and a slower pace. In the shadow of a schloss surrounded by vinyards, the town greets you with an open kiosk serving the fruits of the city's labor! This little Gasthaus is more like a set of apartments in a very large, family-owned house. (If you go... more

The guidebook said that their rooms "guild the lilly" I have to disagree. The small, but very comfortable bed and breakfast makes great efforts to make sure that every detail is taken care of. They even turned my car around so that it was easier to leave in the morning. (Parking is free, but a bit tight. They'll park for... more
