We had a great experience at Mantra on the Park. Staying in a two bedroom apartment, we found the apartment to be spacious, modern, clean, and overall, a comfortable stay. With public transport so close (including the free city tram, which is literally metres away from the front door), you would expect to be woken by loud noises, but, it... more
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Oaks on Lonsdale earlier this year and got a great deal through Wotif.com. After reading all the great reviews on TA we had high expectations, and the Oaks lived up to every one of them. What you're paying for here is basically the room and service (we got a GREAT room overlooking the... more
Although the lift was out, we had a lovely afternoon here once we made it to the third floor. It doesn't take itself too seriously and the atmosphere is fun and classy. Thoroughly recommend the cheese platter and a jug or bottle of any of their finest! I was there with my 18 and 21 y.o. daughters on a special... more
Our experience does not match earlier reviews. Staff are friendly and very helpful but the cleanliness of the place has alot to be desired. Showers had no curtain around, which meant water sprayed over the toilet and dressing area. The mop and bucket were so filthy and full of hair and what?? I had to change the water in bucket... more
I am a local and everytime I go to the Market I feel like I've been on an outing. First: Get there early as possible, preferably on a Saturday, and have coffee (most places make excellent coffee, my favs are Cofea (on Elizabeth St) and Red Earth (in the Deli shed). My tip for breakfast is a spinach and cheese... more
Using wotif to book this hotel, I found a deal for about A$140/night, which seemed to be a bargain for the season. It's a great location, within an easy walking distance to Federation Square, the Visitors Information Center, shopping and public transportation - all are reachable within a 5 - 10 minute walk. I requested a high-floor and received one... more
On our last night in Melbourne we just happened to walk by and looked like it was worth a shot. Service was excellent and the steak was very good. Overall good experience. more
My daughters (18 and 21) and I stayed six nights at Quest on Bourke. The location was outstanding, as the girls wanted easy access to CBD and theatres. The apartment was clean, quiet and a very enjoyable experience. The only negative comment is that a frosted window (admittedly high up but stretching the length of the wall) separated the main... more
My friend and I just stayed there for 8 nights. It is right in the middle of China town, Little Bourke Street corner Exhibition Street. Location is unbeatable. Lots of restaurants along Little Bourke. Safeway supermarket and lots of 7-11 convenience stores nearby. The free tourist shuttle bus has a stop in Exhibition Street. The nearest tram stop is Parliament,... more
They appear to be under new management. Good priced 2 bedroom apartment sleeping 4. Quality linen and pillows. Terrible thin venetian blinds which don't block out any light at all. Dangerous glass-topped tables with sharp corners - a nightmare for our toddler. Good washing/ drying/ dishwasher/ foxtel etc. Superb location and only sound was trams. Recommended. more
I add my voice to the other reviewers here. I've stayed regularly at Rydges Melbourne and have found it to be great each time - until I made the mistake of booking a queen suite spa. A warning to anyone thinking of booking here - do not book the 'spa' suites. They are on unrenovated floors that can only be... more
Stayed here as part of our tour. The location of the hotel was excellent, right in the heart of town and very close to Chinatown. Our room was 1149, the window view is across to another building. The room contained a king size bed with a kitchenette. I think the set-up of the room could have been better. It would... more
Spent three nights here while visiting Melbourne. The Mantra on Russell (AKA Saville) was a great place to stay. Located in central Melbourne within an easy walk to trains, trams, and attractions. I'll stay here next time I return to see more of the city. The Mantra is a high rise, hotel/apartment building with the lower floors as apartments and... more
This is a very good hotel. My expectations were exceeded for the rate that I paid. I had a studio room. I was able to check in at 10.30am on a Saturday morning. My request for a quiet room had been granted also. For a studio room it was larger than most rooms you would find a 5 star hotel... more
Disappointing from beginning. Pulled up to curb in a cab with my mum and baby son with bags and hotel porter did not come out to help us. We were loaded with bags and I had my three month old strapped to me with baby sling. Asked for help and the lady behind the desk came to help us, which... more
I have stayed here several times and always return for the great location and value for money. I stayed 2 nights in a Queen executive room. This gives a full size lounge, a full kitchen, dressing room with ensuite. The only gripe with the room is that there are no real views (even on the 12th floor) and there is... more
I stayed at the Crowne Plaza whilst attending a conference in the adjoing conference - this was a great set up the purpose of my trip. Rooms were functional but comfortable and the bathroom was very pleasant. There was a good selection of food at breakfast and the meals I ate in the hotel restaurants in the evening were very... more
Booked this hotel last minute, had seen it was a 4 - 4 and half star hotel so thought would be quite nice. Room was small and shower had no pressure at all. Lifts were broken so had to take the service lift. No signage anywhere that the lifts were broken even though the staff knew. more
The Oaks on Market hotel is located in downtown Melbourne, and was very convenient to everything we needed and/or wanted to see. The hotel is very well appointed, with a nice lobby area and friendly staff. The room is large and comfy and decorated very modern style. We had a nice queen sized bed with great linens and pillows. There... more
