Kazan Opera House

3 of 5 stars
Manchester, UK
Aug 31, 2008

The Opera House is located close to the main shopping area in Kazan, and it has a large plaza in front of it where it is quite pleasant to sit and just relax for a few minutes. There is a view across the lake that reaches right into the heart of the city, and it is calming to listen to... more

Saint Peter and Saint Paul Cathedral

The main thing that sets this cathedral apart from similar cathedrals in other parts of Russia is the style used in the decoration of the cathedral. Apparently an Italian architect was involved with the building of this church and this is particualrly noticeable from the decorations on the exterior of the cathedral. The cathedral appears bigger from the outside than... more

The Kazan Kremlin was really the star of our very successful visit to Kazan. I had decided to include the city on our tour of Russia on a whim having heard about the Kazan Kremlin. It was one of the best decisions I made about our trip, and ther worst was probably to allow only one day there! The kremlin... more

This hotel rates itself as a five-star hotel. Well, it isn't really in my opinion. However, that doesn't mean it wasn't good. It is actually very nice, and we had a very comfortable stay there. The hotel is very modern looking and built in a very functional style. In fact it can seem a little bit too functional at times,... more

Great hotel, which rates itself as 3 star, but really 4. Nice rooms and deco, good breakfast. It is a very good value unlike a lot of other Kazan hotels. more

Kolvi Hotel

Reviewer - a tourist, visting friends in Kazan Kolvi was clean and a nice place to stay. There was filtered (bottled) cold water readily available. Hot water for tea was also available. They promptly fixed a couple minor problems. The building is like a beautiful Oasis in the midst of City with some not very beautiful parts. We felt safe,... more

I stayed three days for business. Mirage is the vision of Kazan and Tatarstan Republic. The rooms, the service, the bar, the meal and rooms are all excellent. And of course the perfect view of Kremlin. more

I stayed here in November on a advisory assignment and was really surpised about the reception and the room. Everything worked! The bedroom was roomy and quiet with new double-glazed windows. The shower had worked at full pressure and the water was hot. The bathroom was clean and functional. They have a nice restaurant - the brekfast was not exactly... more

Best Eastern Novinka Hotel

Stayed at this hotel during the EBRD conference. What can I say - guess it's if everything else in the city is sold out. Positives - decent service (had no issues), clean, no real problems. Moved my room when I asked, helpful staff. Negatives - really not close to anything..ie you have to take a 15 minute taxi to the... more

I stayed there on holiday with my girlfriend who is from Kazan. The location was perfect. It is right on the main shopping street and only 10 minutes walk from the Kremlin, museum and theatre. Having said that there is not a great deal to do in Kazan. The hotel was clean, modern and comfortable. There was a good selection... more

Heard that there was a new hotel available in Kazan, therefore we thought that we would try our luck. I can say that we were really lucky - this hotel has all that you need and would find in any international standard hotel anywhere in the world! The beds are really great - one of the best nights sleep that... more

Hotel is definately the nicest in Kazan. Very Modern, and excellent service. It is not a five star when it comes to bed comfort and room. I would say it is like a sheraton here in the US. The pillows were not comfortable the bed was hard. The bathroom was awesome with heated floors and very large. The hotel itself... more

We stayed at the Volga Hotel in August 2006. I had reserved a room simply by sending an e-mail. This hotel is very good value for the money. First of all, it is really easy to find it, conveniently located within walking distance from the railway station. There is also a big supermarket nearby, and the city center (and beautiful... more

The Kazan Kremlin has undergone very extensive recontruction of the past few years. I dare say, there is still some ongoing work. But right now, it is one of the most delightful places in Kazan. It's very clean and peaceful. Architecture of many types pleases the visitor at every turn. The Kul Sharif mosque (1995) is definitely worth a visit.... more

We've been to Kazan in early November and while the weather was awful (raining/snowing with strong winds) the hotel was a really really nice place to hide from all the weather troubles and even more :) I believe it's an only 5* hotel in Kazan and while we were choosing between Mirage and Shalyapin which is twice cheaper we've still... more

Having been to different hotels of five countries of the former USSR, from Minsk to Vladivostok, from Stravropol to Uktah I cannot remember to have stayed in a better place than this one. It is a rather new hotel, located in the town center, and despite of short time it is run the staff is quite experienced, always very helpful,... more

The Hotel Tatarstan is perfectly fine. The prices are a little higher than you might expect for someplace as out-of-the-way as Chelny, but the rooms are clean and recently rennovated, the bathrooms are small but nicely finished. The "internet" means they have one computer in the conference room that you can use if you ask. They do have a small... more
