We live in a crazy world today with very few ways to escape. What would it feel like to go back in time to the late 1800's? Would you like to know? Then follow me, but you have to leave that big city high speed life behind and slow down so you can see and feel what it was like.... more

What a find! After reading the reviews of this hotel, I wasn’t sure if I should book. Boy, am I glad I did! It’s a wonderful historic hotel, with beautiful grounds and charming public areas. McCloud Railroad House B&B Trains ,Trees, Great Hosts, and Great Food. My 11 year old daughter and I found this B&B by asking a merchant in the friendly town of McCloud. We visited the McCloud Railroad House on a Saturday to celebrate my father's retirement. We were greeted with the friendly face of Diane, one of the innkeepers. Diane gave us a complete tour of the premises, including two remodeled train cabooses and several other items of train memorabilia. My husband and I stayed in the Train Room, complete with two... more

Ten of us, including four small children, stayed two nights in the McCloud Mercantile Hotel. The rooms are drenched with sun, accented by hardwood... more
This hotel is FABULOUS. The rooms are beautifully redone (we checked out several), full of character and charm, tastefully done. We stayed in the railroad room with our family of 4 and were beyond comfortable. From the unique clawfoot tub to the extra comfy beds we were more than happy. I slept like a world champ. The mercantile building combines... more
Can't say enough about our stay at the McCloud Railroad House B&B. They actually have two railroad cars on the property. They have refurbished both of them and are proud to give a tour. All of the railroad memorabilia on the property has it's very own story. I can't say I was big fan of railroad history until our stay... more

We stayed here as the best launch point for our Mt. Shasta expedition. This inn is very reasonably priced, so we were surprised by the terrific attention to detail and great food. The rooms are older, but kept clean and well-serviced. The suite had a large kitchen well-stocked with pots, pans and supplies. The rooms are quiet, and there's a... more
we went on the new years dinner train and was extremely disappointed. we got admonished for occasional kiss hardly necking, which is funny considering it was new years and supposedly a romantic excursion, the waitress and waiter were rude and cold on my train car.
