Torrs Warren Country House Hotel

Nov 5, 2008

booked the hotel for my fiancee and I and I have to say the combination of the hotel, staff , countryside and weather made it the best weekend we have had in a long long time. The peaceful setting of the hotel made it a very relaxing experience. The food in the hotel was first class. Just a few miles... more

If you need a place to stay where you will have a lovely room, nice place to be in, warm welcome and very good breakfast then you will find it all at Lakeview Guesthouse. Elaine and Alan are great hosts. We found this place when going to Ireland on the ferry and were so pleased we had to write a... more

Balyett Bed and Breakfast and Guesthouse

Nov 4, 2008

Balyett is a lucky find you will be delighted to go back to time and time again. Pat and Bill are very welcoming and can't do enough for you. All B&Bs should be like this. Nice extras, lovely rooms, private parking and perfect for the ferries. Highly recommended! more

The Thistle Inn

This is the most disgusting place I have ever stayed in. I agree with the last review, you had to wipe your feet on the way out. On arrival our beds had already been slept in. The room didn't look like they had been cleaned in months. We didn't see any good old scottish hospitality. The breakfast was a heart... more

The Blue Peter Hotel

Oct 24, 2008

Spent 4 nights at the Blue Peter Hotel. The room was warm and quiet, located above two bars situated on the ground floor. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating having an obvious pride in their business. Breakfast was good and the evening meals were very nice too. The pub was traditional and laid-back, seemingly a focal point for the... more

We had a lovely weekend in the North West Castle. The rooms were huge and well decorated. The staff were friendly and helpful. As it was very wet on the Saturday, we spent some time in the games room, playing carpet bowls and table tennis. There was also snooker and pool tables. We also had a swim in the pool.... more

Abonny Guesthouse is perfect for the traveler who is looking for a simple room and comfy bed upon which to lay one's head. Les, the proprietress, her husband, and their dog Harvey, all made me and my husband feel right at home from the moment we came in. Perfect also for those leaving early the next day for a 9... more

Ian and Ruth are great hosts...very friendly and helpful. Blue Peter is in Kirkcolm, a few miles from Stranraer so this is a convernient place for a 1 night stay before catching the ferry to Belfast. The rooms are very small, but complete with all the necessities and quite clean and neat. I did notice that the bath towels were... more

The Thistle Inn

How anyone can even advertise this accomodation is beyond me. . What the picture on your website doesn't show is that the "rooms" are adjoining a rundown pub and oppoiste a disco. For a good part of the night all we heard was music coming from either the pub or the disco accross the room and people shouting and creating... more

I had to stay in Stranraer due to a cancelled Ferry to Belfast, it was short notice and most of the bed and breakfasts in Stranraer were full. So it was by accident rather than design that I stayed at the Old Manse in Lewis Street, and to my surprise and it proved to be an unexpected delight. The owners... more

I spent quite a while looking for a BB to suite our needs and chose the Balyett and it turned out to be a very lucky choice. If you want a room with a view , ultra clean laundry & bedding ,cut glass wine glasses, mints for afters, choice of biscuits on the always replenished tea tray, then you've got it.... more

Reviewer: Nash, Cheshire. We were drawn to this pub by the mention of red squirrels in the garden and were not disappointed as they appeared and performed each morning we were there. We were also delighted by the warm and friendly welcome we received from Ruth and Ian, who bent over backwards to ensure our stay was comfortable. In addition... more

Collin and Rhona are terrific hosts. You won't be disappointed! We arrived by train and departed by Ferry. Both easly accessible to the BB. Collin suggested eating lunch/dinner in Portpatric, at Campbell's restaurant. WOW - beautiful village and even better food. It's just a short 15 minute ride on a local bus. In Stranraer Collin suggested "The Bay House" for... more

My partner and I stayed here for one night so we could cross over to Ireland on the ferry the next morning. I chose it for it's easy location, but I got so much more. The views were magnificent, the room was immaculate and bright (very well decorated) and we got a nice tipple too. It's was very scottish and... more

We spent a night here en route to Ireland, and were very happy with the experience. The room was large, pleasant, and clean - and the same was true of the ensuite bathroom. The bed was comfortable, and we slept well. We were asked the night before what we wanted for breakfast, and the hot breakfast was exactly as ordered,... more

Fernlea Guest House is a great place to stay if you are traveling by ferry to Ireland from the Stranraer Port. The beds are very good quality and comfortable, bathrooms large and spotlessly clean, and the hosts are friendly and very accommodating. You will only be about 10 min from the Ferry dock so early morning trips to Ireland are... more

Fernlea Guest House

We found Fernlea Guest House purely by accident and I am so glad that we did. We travel over to Ireland in the summer every year and for the past four years we have been staying overnight at the Fernlea in Stranraer, before getting the ferry to Ireland. Lynn and Kenny are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble... more
