The driving loop is a beautiful way to experience the true essence of the Smoky Mountains that is otherwise engulfed with tourism. DH and I traveled the road on a Sunday and it was a little crowded. I didn't mind, but DH seems a little stressed by the narrow road, frequent stops, and stopping and starting so this definitely isn't... more

We went the Sunday of Labor Day weekend this year and wow did we regret that. Originally I wanted to do the horseback riding but it was an hour wait so we were like lets do the loop and then check back. It took us over 2 hours and we only stopped and saw 2 places. On days like that... more

We visited Cades Cove on Aug 24, 2007. It took a 35-50 minutes to get there from Sieversville and the drive is very picturesque this time of year. Greenery is EVERYWHERE. We drove to Cades Cove on Wednesday, July 18th around 10:30. We took the loop and stopped at a few places, #11 on the map where the mill is located was our longest stop. It was worth the stop with a beautiful brook and log cabins and the mill and a nice gift shop. On the loop nearing the Tipton... more

Cades Cove is not to be missed. I have been there during summer, spring and fall and it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful the scenery is in all seasons. Lots of places to stop and get out of the car to observe. more

We recently spent the weekend in the Smoky Mountains and decided to go to Cades Cove the first day. It was really neat. To see how settlers lived during the early 1800s was cool. Such small cabins!! It was FREE, which is nice. How many places can you visit for free? We did make a donation and purchased some items... more

Over Memorial Day, we visited the Smokey Mountians. Cades Cove drive was undoubtedly one of the best things we did there. There were a lot of cars on the road, but that didn't prevent us from enjoying the drive - the slower, the more time you have to really take in the surroundings. The flowered meadows, the thick woods, the... more
