While in Port Douglas we elected to spend a day out at the reef. Now we prefer smaller boats (up to 80 passengers) so we steered away from the large Quicksilver cats in search of a smaller less crowded boat. Top of our list was Aristocat based on reviews on Tripadvisor. However when we booked, the weather was forecast to... more

We know you can't blame the weather on the Cruise company, but our day can only be described as TERRIBLE! If it had just been a cloudy rainy day, that would have been manageable. Unfortunately the 4 days of unseasonably heavy rain had caused the visibility to be less than one meter - what that meant was that we couldn't... more

I got a chance to take a trip on Silversonic (boat owned by Quicksilver group) and found the reef pretty good, but there is a word of warning to all going on any trips with even up to 80 people. Although the large boat is comfortable and takes people to great sites, to have so many people around it is... more

We recently took a trip to the reef with Poseidon. The day was quite professionally run, although a little rushed, but I would strongly advise anyone who just wanted to snorkel, to go with a snorkel-only cruise. We felt that the divers were given precedence and felt a bit pressured to dive. Most of the crew were quite friendly, but... more

Fantastic, the highlight of our week! My partner and I have travelled five times to Cairns since 1985 & have been to the Outer Reef & Lower Isles many times, with many different operators. This time, with our 12 and 14 year old daughters in tow, we wanted something different. After a relaxing coach ride, you board a comfortable vessel... more

We went on the 'Ocean Spirit' Catamaran out to Michaelmas Cay which is a Ntional Trust Island, housing thousands of birds. There are no buildings, cars etc on this island and humans are only allowed on a small section of it. We had the chance to scuba dive or if you didn't want to that but didn't want to miss... more

We did the Great Adventures outer reef tour in January. 1st stop was the Green Island where you had about 2 hrs to explore. Not enough time really since there were a lot of people about. Don't forget to bring insect repellant because there are a lot of mosquitos around. Snorkelling around the beach area was ok, nothing extra ordinary.... more

Not too sure who to dive with when you hit the Great Barrier Reef? Neither were my girlfriend (Melissa) and I when we arrived in Cairns & Port Douglas. We were both PADI certified divers but it has been 8 years since I dove and 6 for her. When we wanted to book a day cruise we wanted the option... more

I am a non-swimmer who is married to a swimmer, so I was trying to find a tour company that would be able to suit both our needs. I didn't want to sit around all day on a small boat while waiting for the snorkelers to come in, and my husband didn't want to be surrounded by 300 other people... more

This was one of if not the best trip I have ever taken as it covered all bases. I took this trip with my 4 year old daughter we were both encouraged to snorkel for a number of hours at the reef, the captain of the vessell entertained my daughter( who is a chatterbox0 for hours, teaching her about the... more
