About
Established in 2010. Rancho Luna Lobos was created to provide a safe haven for rescue dogs. A place where they could choose their best life. Dog sledding is just one outlet for these dogs, but also a choice for each one. Only those who love to run with the pack, join the team. The others decide what makes them happy and Rancho Luna Lobos sets out to make that happen for them.

This family competes in dog-sledding competitions so this is the real deal - not simply a tourist attraction. We even had a cute pig-tailed young teenager training her dogs who came along with us on our one hour ride. Almost all the dogs are rescues and the participation fee goes to their care. The guides are amazing and informative. They let you interact with the dogs and actually stand up on the sled with the guide, instead of just being a passenger. This was on my bucket list but I would do it again in a heart beat!

I do not ski or snowboard. So when my friends and family took a vacation in Park City, I got my son to skip a day on the slopes to try dogsledding with me. What a fun excursion! I found out about this coming from our Airbnb hosts. The love these owners have for their animals is amazing, But let me go back. The process to book online from their website was easy. The owners are very responsive to any questions I had. I thought the price for the excursion was reasonable. The days before my scheduled trip they reached out with reminders. The day before our scheduled outing, the musher had a personal family emergency and no others available . So we decided to reschedule for later the next day. The next day in the morning when doing their due diligence checking out the condition of the trails we’d use , they determined that areas were unsafe due to unusually warm weather the prior evening. For our safety and that of their dogs and mushers we decided again to reschedule. My point is , they did everything in their power to get us a safe excursion on a schedule that worked for us. When we got to finally go dogsledding it was so much fun. I did miss something in the description. I did not realize that we would be actively helping the musher. My son stood behind the musher on the sled. Our musher John was excellent and explained everything in detail about the ride. Thankfully my son was in good enough shape to do this . I suspect if he wasn’t , they would have found another option for us. From my end riding in the sled was a lot of fun, feeling kind of like a slow roller coaster in bursts. We stopped several times to rest the dogs and to regroup before we got to some of the trickier paths on the trail. I was warm in the sled and my son says he got a good workout. In addition to the ride we were able to spend time with the animals, some of which we’re almost full blood wolves. They were beautiful. I thought this trip was an awesome alternative that’s great for all members of the family and I’d highly recommend Luna Lobos

How often do you get to ride a dog sled?
This was a lot of fun.... Our group was aged from 67 - 7, three generations.
The staff explained a lot about the dogs, and their care. For example, on days these dogs are working, they require about 10,000 calories!
Not all huskies, as you might expect. And the biggest dogs are not always the best.
Many were shelter dogs. All the dogs were well groomed, clean and very friendly. They loved the kids and enjoyed attention and being petted.
The course is a bit steep (uphill) in the beginning, until you climb to a plateau. Then things level out and the dogs do what they love to do: run! The ride across the flats and back down the hill is exciting and a lot of fun. And, as I said, different!!
The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. And the dogs were great.
The owner races these dogs, and they have lots of interesting stories about specific dogs. For example, they discovered that one of the dogs was blind and had to have his eyes removed. But the dog loved to run, and continues to run, and may even be a lead dog. Great story.....
I'd strongly recommend this experience.

The couple who own the business are incredibly kind, skillfull, and considerate people. They take wonderful care of their rescue dogs. I teared up a number of times as they told inspirational stories about their rescue sled dogs.
We loved learning about sled dog racing, and my kids (6 and 10), my mother, and I LOVED riding on the sled! It was so fun, the view was incredible, and everyone was so nice.
The dogs were happy and well-socialized. I'm sometimes nervous around big dogs, but I felt perfectly safe even letting my 6 year old pet the dogs. They were lovely!
This was the experience of a lifetime and I HIGHLY recskillfully,
We've been coming to Park City to ski for 20 years as a family, but this experience is a definite stand-out and a new favorite!

We are in Park City for our honeymoon and originally booked a tandem dog sledding tour. Unfortunately due to the minimal snow this winter, we did have to switch to the safari tour with the UTV. Dana made it easy to switch and offered easy cancellation if we wanted.
We loved getting to meet all of the dogs on site and hearing their stories. It was very clear they care so much about their dogs and the mission. Luna Lobos works as a rescue and has their own competing dog sled team in addition to providing tours! We thought it was awesome that they primarily race all rescue dogs. The dogs were all super friendly and clearly excited to work. The tour was fun and we had a great time!
Our rental van actually got stuck in their driveway and Fernando spent a solid 30+ minutes assisting us to get it back out, which was much appreciated! They easily went above and beyond for us!
I’d highly recommend Luna Lobos to any dog lover! If we are ever in Park City again, we would definitely come back! :)

This place has great potential and is located in a beautiful area. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. However, many areas need improvement to make this a great experience worth the money. We could only get the snowshoe experience (dog sleds were sold out). Finding the ranch in the winter can be a challenge (no signage/no cell signal). Parking is hazardous and confusing since this is a private property off a tricky road. There are no facilities whatsoever except for a port-a-potty that was an absolute disgrace. I only used it so as to not pee myself but honestly, I have never seen such a disgusting sight. Words cannot describe it. There was no running water either. We came on time as we were told and ended up waiting for everyone else to show up which was not a good experience and delayed the tour considerably. We expected to snowshoe a trail with a few retired dogs as per the booking description. Instead, we interacted with many of the dogs in their pen, listened to an interesting but very very very long presentation in freezing temperatures then waited around to get fitted with shoes and receive some directions. No one was sure as to when or where we were heading. Surely, this is not a brand new tour, right? We were made to watch the sleds prep, go and return rather than walk a trail. When we finally headed out, already tired & frozen from all the waiting around. there was no trail but a steep hill to climb and only 2 dogs (they were not sled dogs but appeared to be pets out for a walk). The climb was not ideal with snowshoes. Quite a few people turned around and left and we did as well. The dogs were worth the trip but honestly, I am not sure why I paid $107.00 per person. Please organize your ranch to properly receive paying guests. Get the snowshoe tour started right away and include the dogs as announced. Finally, an indoor area with a restroom, a place to sit, and a warm drink (to purchase!) would have made all the difference.

My family and I visited in November and highly recommend Luna Lobos for anyone looking to dog sled. We visited when there was limited snow and thus had to do the safari rather than sledding. However, the experience was still amazing. Our tour guide, Jon, was fun and very personable. Fernando and Dana are incredible and truly love the dogs and what they do. The dogs are so loving and fun to play with, my kids did not want to leave. My family was comprised of 6 people including young children, teens and adults. Everyone loved the experience and even wanted to do it again on our visit. This is a must do on any trip to Park City.

I never write reviews, but this experience was so incredible it was a must. The owners of Luna Lobos, Dana + Fernando, were so kind and welcoming and really made the experience incredible. We fell in love with this place because unlike other dog sledding outfitters, it is a non-profit and the dogs are almost all rescues. It was awe-inspiring to see how they care for the dogs, and their passion and love for what they do truly shines through. We’ve never seen happier pups! It’s impossible not to walk away smiling from ear to ear after playing with the dogs and hearing their story! There wasn’t enough snow for us to go on the normal sledding experience, so we did the safari ride where the dogs are attached to a 4x4 UTV and they are pulling it, which boosts their ego! It was still incredibly enjoyable and I left with tears in my eyes as the dogs and this place touched my heart so much. This is a must do, go with this company, you will not regret it!

My wife and I visited the ranch and had an incredible time! The staff was so thorough and open to all questions. The dogs were all so great to interact with and the staff allowed plenty of time to spend with each set of dogs. The entire experience exceeded expectations and is definitely recommended for anyone in the Park City area.

We had a great experience and Los Lobos. It was pretty much in line with all the other positive reviews. Family-owned/run dog rescue that also provides dog sledding experiences and lessons. Fernando and everyone at Los Lobos were very friendly and engaging with our kids.
We were a little hesitant at first since our son was really traumatized by bad experience with a neighborhood dog, however, the dogs at Los Lobos were really friendly and calm around him. It really helped him feel comfortable.
Their passion for what they do and the care they have for all of their dogs was evident. We started off the experience with a presentation on what they do as a rescue, dog sled racing, and the different types of race dogs.
The option to sit in the sled and enjoy the ride or to ride standing with the musher was great as well. Our daughter was thrilled to at the chance for an adventurous ride. I'd recommend Los Lobos for anyone (including families with young children) looking for a unique experience.
When we went in beginning of February, there was just enough snow to sled through the trails. They were great about letting you know the snow conditions and provide flexible options to re-schedule or cancel if for some reason there isn't enough snow.
