For the budget traveler looking to visit New York City and stay in a clean, safe place with a private bath, you cannot beat the Amsterdam Hotel on value. Their internet rate is $110 and that includes complimentary breakfast, free, well-lit onsite parking, and wireless internet access. You have to be realistic when visiting NYC. Decent rooms with private bath... more

I needed a last minute hotel room in Stamford, CT. I looked at my coupon book and discovered this hotel. I arrived with a coupon for $79/night. The front desk clerk was very nice but informed me that the coupon could only be used on the weekends. That's not printed on the coupon but I know that the property is... more

Lodging in the adjacent counties of Westchester in NY and Fairfield in CT is extremely expensive... or if it's cheap, it's not even worth considering. I found the Amsterdam Hotel to be a very good value at half the price of the typical room in this area. Don't expect a lot and you will be pleasantly surprised. Hotel management appears... more

I had the most horrifying experience ive ever had at a hotel. I have traveled quite a bit and know what to expect at a hotel. Myself, my fiance and two friends booked a room with two double beds for New Years Eve. Firstly, the staff had mishandled my reservation and recorded it for the evening prior and I was... more

I needed a room just for one night at the last minute. I found this hotel in one of those magazines that are found in IHOPS, for last minute lodging. The only catch was that you can't make a reservation and get the last minute low price. I took my chances and was able to just walk in and get... more

Clean. Wireless internet worked and free. Friendly staff. No room service. No mini-bar or seemingly way to get a cold drink of water late at night (though there was a fridge in my room). No restaurant. Breakfast was not great. Expensive for what it is - but then hotels in Stamford are expensive. Wouldn't recommend if you like a prefer... more

I had arrived fairly late to check in, almost around 10PM but the front desk clerk was kind and gave me a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room (which normally sells for almost #300), which was a kind gesture since I was only paying (#110). The room was HUGE and although it overlooked the Taco Bell across the street, I... more

We enjoyed our stay over New Year's at the hotel very much. Our room was clean and neat, and the housekeeping staff was friendly and helpful and eager to answer questions and fulfill requests. The front desk staff was helpful and acted very promptly on a medical emergency we had while we were there. We liked our room...very nice, with... more

I agree with the gentleman from the UK. The Amsterdam Hotel is priced lower than other hotels in Stamford, so if you're looking for an affordable place, this is it. The lobby is nicely decorated and the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast area is a cramped room and in addition to the aforementioned Dunkin Donuts, there... more

We stayed 1 nt at the Rodeway Inn in Stamford (April 2005) and were pleasantly surprised with the Hotel. We chose it as it was a good price for a central Stamford Hotel, everywhere else was twice the price. The internet pics and description really didnt do it justice. The room was a very good size, clean and comfortable. Bathroom... more
