This was a decent hotel. We chose it because so many of the other hotels in the Gaslamp area were extremely overpriced, and we were looking for a hotel with a nice pool. We booked this online through expedia for about 150 per night, and it was certainly worth that amount. The rooms were clean, done in a pretty beachy... more

My partner and I stayed at this hotel. The good: the room was clean and well-appointed. Beds were very comfortable and sheets were high quality. Great location (Petco Park is a block away; the convention center a couple of blocks; lots of restaurants in Gas Lamp District). Very friendly and polite staff. Small but well-maintained outdoor pool on the third... more

I stayed at this hotel two weeks ago for 4 nights, starting on a Saturday. The rooms were nice, pretty clean, and the location is good. But the noise in this Hotel was too much. The pool area features a roof bar that is open until the wee hours of the morning, with plenty of booze-filled people and music blasting...... more

My mom and I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in August 2008. Overall, I am really satisfied with this hotel. It is worthy of the 4-star title. The decor, both in the lobby and in the rooms, was artistic and tasteful, and the service at the front desk was excellent. They also offered free coffee/tea in the morning... more

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Solamar for four nights recently. We were absolutely happy with all aspects of the hotel. The rooms are lovely, comfortable, decorated well, but most of all the hotel staff members are truly professionals. They are efficient, polite, and appear to want their guests to feel welcome ~ which we did. We have... more

This August was our first trip to San Diego so we picked this hotel and it was just fantastic. Took in a Padres game so it was a short walk to the stadium and back. Enjoyed drinks on the roof with the fire pots going that night. As it was my birthday, the whole setting was just right. We're New... more

The Hotel Solamar was great place to stay for my quick visit to San Diego. We booked a regular king room, but were given a corner king room, which gave us a view of Petco park and the fireworks after the game. The hotel is very close to restaurants and shops in the downtown area and is also close to... more

Hotel Solamar is a fashionable hotel on 6th Avenue. Rooms are tastefully decorated (trendy). The Hotel has a bar on the 4th floor, next to the (small) pool. The bar at the pool is quite popular, and music is being played during the weekends. I did stay in a room on the 4th floor but I could not really hear... more

We booked a last minute stay at the Solamar for our anniversary on a Monday night. The hotel was well decorated and was just as we expected. They sent a bottle of champagne up for our special night and we enjoyed the pool, wine, and coffee in the morning. We stayed on the pool level and it was really quiet... more

Booked a three night stay from Sunday to Wednesday in July 2008. Overall, it was a good stay. Location can't be beat. It's within three blocks of the Convention Centre, the orange line of the trolley system, and Petco Park. The major restaurants of Gaslamp are within 2 blocks. It's also only a $10 taxi ride from the airport and... more
