During our week in Cooperstown we ate in a number of restaurants, most of which had expensive and/or poor quality food offerings. Doubleday Cafe was a noticeable exception. Food was great--loved the burgers, wife loved the soup--and price fit our budget more

We'd traveled all week and I was really tired of over-rated and over-priced food. We stopped in for lunch during our trip and went back for dinner. I could see where the service could be iffy, but our service was fine both times. Lunch for me was grilled cheese and homemade tomato basil soup (yum). My husband had an open... more

Our family of 6 stopped in for lunch last week. Although there are large paper menus at the tables, they hand you a lunch menu when you are seated. You can only order off this menu for lunch, not the large one. Very limited offerings. For instance, although chicken tenders are listed on the larger menu, you can't order them... more

Recommended by our innkeepers, The Rose and Thistle, in Cooperstown my husband and I split the Vegetable Alfredo with Tomato Basil Penne. It was easily the best pasta dish either of us have ever eaten. more

Looking for a place for lunch on Main Street and we went into this Cafe. The service was terrible. The restaurant was about 3/4 full and we waited over 15 minutes before a waitress even acknowledged us there. Then the food was just OK. We ordered a wrap that was just awful. Skip this place if at all possible. more

For the other person to write "a little better than fast food" is just not true. We were there for 3 days and ate twice. The food is freshly made and CHEAP. The soup was home made like mom made and delicious. Burgers and fries were great and there is beer to drink too!!!!! more

It is always sad when a tourist town has tourist dining stops. However, this fits nicely into that category. The food is little better than fast food and the price is not fast food range. $6 burgers served with nothing, meaning a "burger meal" costs around $10 plus any drinks. Not the best, but I did not run out or... more

We ate here twice during our Hall of Fame trip in early November. Waitstaff is very friendly and personable, if not somewhat witty. A good place to rest after a full day, enjoy the free popcorn and sports TV. They stay open later than anyone else downtown(9pm). We had hamburgers one day, and a variety of items the next. All... more

Great local eatery during the off-season. Far too crowded during the summer. I always end up with the same ornery waitperson. Good menu, nice for a bite, but I would go elsewhere for a full sit-down dinner. more
