Very lovely ambiance. It is great for both special occasions and casual family dining - hard to find for Chinese restaurants! The portions are VERY generous and ingredients are fresh. The Mandarin Cove is one of the more brilliant asian restaurants in downtown Portland, not because it's fancy or upscale, but because of the consistently exceptional cusine. A little off the beaten track but near the riverside hotels, this restaurant prepares solid, well-cooked and tasty Chinese food. Service is lightening quick: the food seems to arrive just seconds after you order, but there is no sense of pre-cooked food. Everything seems fresh and delicious. Service is friendly and accommodating. Surroundings are generic cafe stuff. more
