We were so spoiled! This trip, from the minute we arrived and were so hungry after traveling all day, they whisked us in for dinner out on the lovely patio and made sure our every need was met. The food was delish! Gazpacho with a frozed avocado added in and a fun iced tea (we have had such a tough time getting Iced Tea in England of all places!) In fact, I think last time we were at The Montague we asked about it and now they have it on the menu! How's that for listening to a guest's request? And those individual little salts were a perfect touch. I can't say enuf about the concierge service each time we stay. He booked theater tickets for us for "Wicked" at the very last minute and they were prime seats! This time we asked for "Billy Elliot" the very day of the performance and again got the best seats in the house! Before the theater we needed to eat quickly and they rushed our order and everyone got us out on time- it was a team effort! So cute! Covent Garden is just a short walk- that made me happy. One day I wanted to find "Liberty" and when I got back I swear everyone was excited I found something because they noticed I had a coveted Liberty bag! We had a little room snag and they very politely upgraded us to a larger room with a great view. They called taxis for us and we requested a car greet us at the airport and bring us to the Hotel, then deliver us to the airport the day we left. Everyone was so polite, prompt and personable. It was a joy.
This is our third stay and we will make this our Hotel each time we visit London. Nice quiet location away from the hub-bub.

I chose this hotel for the opportunity to get to know Bloomsbury, and was very pleased with the both the hotel and the location. Our standard room was upgraded on arrival, which was of course a nice surprise. If I have any hesitation about the hotel, however, it would be that even the upgraded room, including the bathroom, was quite tiny and the decor a bit on the sombre side. Having said that, it was very comfortable and the hotel is exactly as quintessentially English as it looks on its web site. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We especially appreciated all the trouble taken by the concierge in trying to assure that we were checked in on our Ryanair flight despite problems with the web site access. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and makes you feel you could stay on and on. It was very much worth the visit.

We stayed at this hotel for one night for my Partner's birthday. On arrival we were greeted by extremely friendly and helpful staff.
We had booked a King Size deluxe room but were upgraded to a suite which was Fantastic!! As part of my partner's birthday treat we had booked an afternoon tea at the Ritz (dissapointing!). Upon returning to our suite at the Montague on The gardens we found that room had been 'turned down' and they had left a 'birthday surprise' of fruit and goodies for my partner. We had an excellent evening meal in the hotel restaurant.
Overall the Hotel was brilliant. Service and staff were fantastic. Its all the small thoughtful touches that make the difference.
Highly Recommended!

What a fantastic hotel. I was only there one night which was not enough. The staff are very polite and professional, the whole hotel is clean and well presented. The rooms are not huge but dont feel small and they seem to have thought of everything.
I loved the hotel and the location is bob on for seeing London. It's easy walking distance from euston station and from the west end, covent garden and oxford street etc.etc.
If your trying to decide on accomodation for London look no further you have found it.
p.s. I am not easily pleased.

“Lovely Stay At The Montague On the Gardens”

The Montague on The Gardens

Jun 23, 2008

This was our third visit to London and second stay in Bloomsbury. First stay in Bloomsbury was at the Tavistock Hotel. This time we decided to go upscale and chose The Montague. I don't understand why it is not higher rated than it is because it sure is deserving in my opinion.

The area is fantastic as it's a central and nice neighborhood. The hotel was around the corner from the amazing British Museum and there were endless choices of restaurants and pubs. We were not disappointed with our choice of The Montague. From the moments of enquiring about their rates/availabilities to the days leading up to our arrival our emails were replied to promptly.

The hotel is very old-world with a doorman and small, cozy lobby done up in traditional old English decor. There's a fireplace with two huge chairs in front and reproduction oil paintings dotting the walls. Even the ceiling was done up in fabric.

Since we were a family of three we opted for a deluxe king with sofa bed. Our room (#203) was a bit unusually laid out. The very modern marble bath with rain shower was at the entryway which was at the top of a flight of stairs. Downstairs was the bedroom and sofa bed decorated and furnished in a mix of traditional with modern eclectic I suppose is a good way to describe it: faux fur bedspread, traditional drawings, and flat screen TV. There was a tea/coffee tray provided with the usual biscuits and teas/coffees as well as a separate teapot which was a nice touch. Our room was very quiet and overlooked a beautiful garden. One caveat is that the stairs got to be tiring after a short while.

We had a full English breakfast package but sadly we were not able to partake of the full English both days we were there as we had to leave early. However, when we discussed this with the staff they graciously offered us Continental breakfast to be served earlier than the usual set times to which we were very grateful. The Continental breakfast was great as one fills out the breakfast card in the room and choose whatever items one wants from the selections given. We received a huge spread of various breads and pastries, jams, coffee, tea, cheeses, and cold cuts.

This was a fantastic hotel and it was such a treat to return to the hotel after being out. It is a calm and sweet place with very nice staff members.
