I am slightly surprised by how highly rated this hotel is in London. We stayed for 2 nights and the hotel upgraded us to a large two floor suite. This was very gracious and while the suite was large in size, it was extremely dated and reeked of cigarette smoke. It literally seemed like smoke was hanging on every strand of fabric in the room.

The staff was generally pleasant but not overly so. I would describe the service as kind but hardly memorable. The hotel markets itself as belng in a good location.

I would not stay in the Montcalm on future visits to London.

Traveling with work and staying in London is a challenge, rates are so high and hotels take every advantage to hike the prices!

The Montcalm was worryingly close to a main road but turned out to be pretty quiet even with a window open at night. VERY helpful concierge and check in staff. Food was ok, I had room service which was prompt.

The room itself was a little sombre and compact but clean and very comfortable. Everything you could want business-wise with hi-speed internet that actually works and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. T&C facilites and a big TV. Good closet space, standard big hotel bathroom.

Excellent location for walking to work in Bond Street and late night shopping on Oxford Street. M&S and Selfridges round the corner for food shopping if the hotel food doesn't appeal

“Decent but could have been better”

Montcalm Nikko London

Got a great price for the Montcalm Hotel and when we arrived I was impressed with the location and had a good overall impression of the hotel. However, the room STANK of smoke (even though the hotel is now non-smoking) and when I complained nothing was done about it. The bed was huge (which was a plus) but too small for the room and it was impossible to fit the baby cot into the room so we had to send it back. Very friendly staff though and overall nice hotel but I won't be staying there again unless I suddenly crave to spend the night in an ashtray again.

“Excellent location, excellent value”

We stayed at this hotel for one night in May 2007. We were looking for a reasonably-priced good quality hotel near Hyde Park so that we could walk around a bit during the afternoon. The Montcalm Nikko did not disappoint. The room was not large, but it was perfectly clean and just fine for our needs. The location was great (walking distance to tube and to Hyde Park). The concierge staff was very helpful. The small bar was a delightful finish to a lovely dinner at a nearby restaurant recommended by the hotel.

Would we stay here again? Yes, absolutely.

“Great location, ideal hotel”

Montcalm Nikko London

Although we were a bit apprehensive from the lobby, which had a slightly musty, shabby-genteel feel, we were absolutely delighted by our room. My wife and I stayed in early June on our first visit to London, having chosen the hotel mainly based on TripAdvisor research and it exceeded all our expectations. Our room was spacious, very well appointed and clean and the bed was a comfortable king-sized. The location is ideal, a single, short block from the Marble Arch station on the central tube line. It's only a few blocks from Selfridges, or, in different directions, Hyde Park, a pleasant restaurant area with many outdoor tables on the sidewalks, or a middle-eastern ethnic area. Though it wasn't cheap, we booked very early and got a good price for London (130 GBP). Found the best price was on the hotel's website. Highly recommended.
