This is a very good hotel, as long as you know what to expect. It is on a street where many town homes have been converted to hotels like this. I believe that this is one of the better ones. It is very clean and well kept. The breakfast is exceptionally good. But don't expect larger rooms or much beyond the basics. One amenity that I found to be very useful, was the laundry facility. You don't see that much in European hotels. The location is okay, near Paddington Station. If I had to choose a location again, I would prefer a location further south for the usual tourist attractions.

“comfortable and central”

The Darlington Hyde Park

Aug 2, 2008

We stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel was comfortable; the room was small and the bed okay, but the best thing is the breakfast which is cooked for you.
This hotel is a good base for getting around London and there is a good selection of eating places around the hotel.
Not the best hotel I have been in but okay for a few nights in the city.

This is one of a series of hotels on the same street that used to be Victorian homes. It is one of the nicer. The room was nice, but small. The bed was very comfortable. We unfortunately didn't have much of a view. The breakfast was included in the rate and was pretty tasty. The staff for the most part was great, especially the servers during breakfast. The location is great, just down from Paddington Station and from a tour bus stop. I highly recommend those if it's your first time in London. Hyde Park is just up the street.

Yes, if you want a spotless clean hotel with very helpful and efficient staff in a fabulous location, this is the place to stay. We just loved the Darlington. We stayed in London for 4 days prior to a tour and booked a suite which gave us plenty of room to relax. Well worth the extra cost. This was one of the few hotels I really couldn't fault in the 4 weeks we were in the UK and Ireland - the floors did squeak a bit, but there were so many extras that were just part of the deal. It's only 1 block from Paddington Station and you are able to walk there with suitcases quite easily, not to mention the great location for shopping, particularly in Oxford Street. Our 2nd stay on our return was just as good. A freshly cooked breakfast was also included, as well as the opportunity to use the laundry. A great place to stay.

This property worked well for our family of four, in the family room at the back of the ground floor. Spacious room, and quiet setting. Breakfast was very good, with a variety of foods. Our major complaint was that the twin bed and sofa bed used by our teen daughters were not at all comfortable. Convenient location, with just a short walk to the Tube and train to Heathrow or Windsor.

We found much more attractive dinner options walking toward Lancaster Gate, rather than Paddington.
