stayed in the hotel for a weekend on 22nd of Feb, and I have to say the hotel is absolutely fantastic!
the rooms are very big with a lot of wardrobe space and huge bathroom!
unlike most hotels there are plenty of lights and all electrics are managed with ease by dimmers!
the views are to die for! you get free minibar and small deset every day. the service at breakfast can be slow if you want to avoid it just tell them to bring all at once or how many minutes between the courses you want!
the spa area is lovely really enjoyed the ladies sauna!
although the hotel and town itself are really lovely, i did not like skiing in st.moritz very much, may be beause the snow was practicly melted away!
none the less i am going there thi weekend too!

We were invited to the Cartier Polo Tournament on Snow (actually the frozen lake!) - absolutely stunning & the height of discreet European luxury. The hotel, although very newly (and very much totally) renovated is just outside the centre of town. Its a 5-10 min walk if you plan to shop. On the positive side the views are great, the entire place is 'brand new', the spa with its indoor and outdoor pool, amazing saunas and steambaths are top of the range. Didnt get to eat at the hotel other than breakfast and this is when you start to scratch you head with regards decor. The main dining room remains pretty much original (very classic with a few minor modern touches) as does the bar, lounge area but in comparions the rooms (all suites!) are a funky luxury thats a bit difficult to describe. Its not that it isnt nice - it is, only its a little strange and certainly has no mountain, ski lodge feel to it. Bathrooms are great. Service at breakfast is either very good or totally missing. The breakfast maitre'd is simply not up to his job. Otherwise service & staff are good and getting to grips with an hotel that reopened in December 2007. I would stay here again rather than at the rather staid Palace in town.

“Maybe the best hotel in the Alps ever”

Carlton Hotel

Feb 10, 2008

I don;t remember ever having a room that was both so luxurious and had such a sense of humor - at the same time. The hotel was just redone - but the staff takes care of you as if they had always been there. Small perfect touches everywhere. food to die for - with so many "small presents from the chefs" in between courses that you wonder how you will eat it all. then you ski. i rarely slept so well. loved the place!
