We stayed at the Club Med at BinTan in Feb. 2007. It was clean, people were great, and food was excellent. The staff was great, as expected at a Club Med. Great family resort spot, tons of stuff to do on site, and golf nearby. Its a short drive to the resort after the ferry ride from Singapore. We went with our 9 month old child, and there was limited babysitting availability, limited elevator service (for some rooms) and steps upon steps to get anywhere (multiple staircases to reach anywhere near the rooms). Still, I would recommend it.

This Club is our families third and it was as good the others and even a little better then Phuket. But make no mistake, this is a family-oriented resort. The entire resort is oriented towards kids and parents. This is not a resort for a romantic getaway or a la carte meals.

The Kids' Club was well-run and a lot of fun for the kids. Our nine year old liked the fact that he could come and go and sign himself out of the club. Our six year old daughter loved being able to participate in shows.

The rooms were as expected. Clean, comfortable beds and reasonable space. The number of TV channels was adequate, but understand that Club Med does not encourage, as part of their philosophy, TVs and such (Wifi was limited as well, but that is what you should expect).

The meals were buffet and the variety was decent, including some local dishes and stations for the various guests from a number of countries. Yes, it is annoying to have the GOs sit with us for a number of meals and having to have the same introductory conversation over and over. Perhaps they can make adjustments to this policy.

The pool and beach were terrific and there were plenty of activities. If you just wanted to sit around, there was space for that as well. I loved the music pavilion with the two comfortable reclining chairs overlooking the resort as it was a nice place to relax.

This was our first time at a Club Med and probably our last. We live in Singapore and had been to Bintan before but had avoided Club Med as we thought it might be a bit Butlins. However, friends kept telling us good things, so we bit the bullet and booked over the Easter weekend.

Well, we did enjoy ourselves but the rooms are not very nice and that's after a recent renovation. We weren't there to watch TV but if it had rained we might have been forced to, and the channel selection was appalling.

And sure, the staff are friendly, but probably too friendly. Is it too much to ask to have a quiet family meal without one of the GOs joining you. The food itself was ok I suppose but constant buffets get boring after a bit. And please, get another couple of toasters or even one that works properly!

Pluses: Our seven-year-old loved it and the pool and beach are pretty good. The Terrase restaurant is quite idyliic. If only we could have lingered over a meal instead of the usual wham bam buffet.

This was our third stay at Club Med Bintan and unfortunately did not really meet the high levels of service which we'd expierenced before at Bintan and Club Med Cherating. The staff were less than enthusiastic;there was no sun dance or really fun pool games which the children always enjoy.
The food - which is usually excellent - was rather boring and lacking in quality and variety.
The rooms were rather rundown and certainly need some renovating.
I will say the evening buffet and entertainment laid on for Chinese New Year's eve was top class. And the Chef de Village was friendly and interested in his guests.
I still say Club Med is a great holiday for families I just feel this particular village needs some upgrading and some new ideas for entertainment and dining. We recently stayed at Club Med Cherating in Malaysia and that was a 5star holiday village.
