Understand before you read that this is not an upscale motel and never will be. Nevertheless, we were surprised and pleased by this quiet motel on the main road into Cooperstown. My husband had little trouble checking in, and we found the room, while not a model of modern luxury, to be comfortable enough.

The room was clean and fresh towels were provided for both days of our stay. Microwave, coffeemaker, fridge and cable were all supplied and in working order. The room contained two double beds and a small table and chairs. A couple of inexpensive plastic patio chairs outside our door allowed us to enjoy the cooler evening air. The A/C worked.

Since this hotel was going for half the $$ of the chain motels, I felt we received excellent value and would have no problems staying there again.

Our only problem -- an alarm clock in an unoccupied room that went off at midnight -- was dealt with fairly quickly and did not repeat.

Our overall impression: "Good, basic accommodations for people on a budget -- wait a minute, that's us!."

Based on previous reviews, my friend and I were a little apprehensive about staying at the motel, however since we were only staying one night, and on a limited budget, we decided to chance it. After checking into our room, we were quite pleased with the accomodations. The room was clean, with a micrcowave and a fridge and the shower and bathroom were also clean. Nothing fancy, but for the price, it's typical for similar motels in the area and in other parts of the country. The motel is several miles south of Cooperstown, but it only took us 5 minutes to get to Main St and the ride was very scenic. We also found a great little coffee shop (Java Joes) to get something to eat and drink. Altogether, we had a great time in Cooperstown. If you are on a budget, like we were, then this motel will suit the bill.

My sons and I stayed at the Red Carpet Inn expecting to find the motel acceptable based on AAA's rating. It took 10 minutes to check in ( I was the only one in the office) which should have sent up a red flag immediately. The clerk seemed to be "bothered" by my presence.
Upon entering the room everything looked fine. We settled in and one of my sons used the bathroom and upon flushing discovered the water in the bowl filled to the top. It did not run over, yet. The water slowly subsided but about 15 minutes later my son hears water running. Upon entering the bathroom the toilet had overflowed because the water in the tank was running. I turned the water off at the stopcock and proceeded to "mop" up the mess. I called the office and no one answered. We shortly departed to go downtown and I stopped in at the office to report the problem. The clerk, a different one than when I checked in, acknowledged the complaint. When we returned from downtown we went straight to bed. The next morning we noticed that there had been no change in the condition of the toilet. Upon checkout I mentioned it to the clerk again and all he said was that no one told him.
My advice is not to stay at this place. It seems that the customers are a bother to the staff.

Stayed at this motel for 2 nights because the Holiday Inn Express had no rooms available. The lady at the front desk was less than friendly. The room was decent-sized and clean. The housekeeper did an acceptable job. There is no pool, game room, or any other on site diversion for kids. The room was quiet, and the a/c cooled the room effectively. I would stay there again, but it would not be my first choice in Cooperstown.
