My wife and I come to Binghamton, NY a couple of times per year, we always make an out of the way trip to Cooperstown to stay at the Otesaga hotel and dine at the Hoffman Lane Bistro.
We travel about 200 days out of the year and eat in many restaurants but this is one of our favorites. The restaurant is very homey with an excellent service staff that seems to be there every time we come back, it appears there is very little or no turnover.
The food is amazing, many times we don't even make it to the entrees because the appetizers are so compelling. In the summer the patio is very relaxing and I highly recommend eating outside if the weather permits.
My only criticism of the place, I wish there were more wine options in the $80 to $180 range, like a Silver Oak, Quintessa, Caymus, Seasmoke, or Joseph Phelps to name a few.
Bottom line, I eat here twice per year and that is how many times I am within 70 miles of the restaurant. You should eat there too.
PS, the lamb appetizer is to die for.
