My wife and I come to Binghamton, NY a couple of times per year, we always make an out of the way trip to Cooperstown to stay at the Otesaga hotel and dine at the Hoffman Lane Bistro.

We travel about 200 days out of the year and eat in many restaurants but this is one of our favorites. The restaurant is very homey with an excellent service staff that seems to be there every time we come back, it appears there is very little or no turnover.

The food is amazing, many times we don't even make it to the entrees because the appetizers are so compelling. In the summer the patio is very relaxing and I highly recommend eating outside if the weather permits.

My only criticism of the place, I wish there were more wine options in the $80 to $180 range, like a Silver Oak, Quintessa, Caymus, Seasmoke, or Joseph Phelps to name a few.

Bottom line, I eat here twice per year and that is how many times I am within 70 miles of the restaurant. You should eat there too.

PS, the lamb appetizer is to die for.

Food is always extremely tasty, slightly pricey, workers are all extremly welcoming, friendly, and accomadating, Our only compaint is that it is sometimes very noisy and the portions are very inconsistant. Definely one of the top restaurants in the area.

'Bistro' does not do this restaurant justice! Excellent food served in an open, airy, contemporary environment. With a double height split level dining hall. We had the lamb brochette to start; gloriously pink in the middle with a melt-in-the-mouth quality. Slow cooked pork loin to follow; with crispy cracking and tender succulent pork loin, cooked to perfection. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. Highly recommended. In April we didn't need a reservation for a Friday night - at the height of the season, probably wise to book.

I ate at all the better restaurants during our stay in Cooperstown in late October. This was by far the best place to eat while visiting Cooperstown. They have a large menu with options for almost every taste. The food is excellent. Even though the restaurant is busy, the service is great.

Date of Visit: September 2005

We had one evening in Cooperstown and the Hoffman Lane Bistro was recommended to us by our hosts at the Lyoncher B&B.

It was a busy night (Friday) but the service was great and our waitress was very friendly and informative. We ordered a bottle of wine from the local area and she was able to tell us information about making in the region.

The food delicious, some of the best we've had and not too expensive for the quality of food.
For starters we had lamb kebabs and mussels in garlic and white wine, followed by honey and herb chicken and a steak salad which was finished off with creme brulee and a chocolate mousse on Oreo cookie base.

We also loved the table decorations - a pot of crayons and a paper tablecloth. A very new experience for us but very fun.

A definate for anyone visiting Cooperstown.
