I stayed in Cooperstown 4 nights. I was very excited to stay at The Tunnicliff, and was disappointed when they could only accomodate me for the first 2 nights. When I arrived and saw how run down the hotel was - I was glad my stay would be short.
The room was small and the decor old and worn. Not even a chair to sit in !!
The overall atmosphere of the Inn was "dark and dreary", and lacked the character you would expect. Furniture in the "parlor" was cheap and uncomfortable.
Fireplaces were not in operation and were covered by other furniture or serving tables.
Not the warm. cozy retreat I was hoping to find.
The staff was generally indifferent.
When making the reservations I was told they were "booked" on Mon & Tue. I stopped by on Mon to check mail - and discovered they were actually CLOSED !!

The Good News ..
I found a WONDERFUL Inn at the opposite end of Main St .. for LESS money.
I would never recommend The Tunnicliff

“Great Place To Stay And Great Hopsitality”

My wife and I stayed at the Tunnicliff Inn for 2 nights and enjoyed the staff's hospitality and true professionalism. They all welcomed us with a smile and a warm welcome. The Inn is spectacular with a historical touch of class for such an old estlablishment in Cooperstown. Also everything to see in town was walking distance, the baseball hall of fame, Otsego lake, all the shops and such. We also enjoyed the food and spirits in the restaurant which is underground with exceptional wait staff and prompt service. We will definitely stay at this place again when we come to Cooperstown again and so should anyone else who likes historical buildings and being comfortable with a warm welcome at The Tunnicliff Inn. Thank you!

I stayed here for one night in April. The inn has a great location, right across the street from the hall of fame. But, for the price, I was expecting a little more. The inn is very old, and it shows. The bathrooms are tiny and cramped, and the decor in the rooms was tired and worn. I thought the breakfast was mediocre as I would have liked to have seen some hommade goods. The inn keeper was very nice, but for the price, I was expecting better.

“Great, quirky find”

Tunnicliff Inn

This is a great, historic inn that is conveniently located near the Baseball Hall of Fame. My husband and I visited during the off-season and found the inn to be charming and affordable. The owner, Tom, was attentive and the downstairs lobby featured coffee, tea, magazines and games, much like a bed and breakfast. The building is certainly historic, but features some nice modern amenities in the room, like digital cable, a speaker phone, and hairdryer. On the downside if you like modern, standardized corporate fare, this hotel may be too quirky for you. For instance, there is no elevator and the stairs were quite steep and perilous. The walls were somewhat thin, and the floor of our third-floor room featured a definite slant, so it always felt as if we were sliding toward the bathroom. Also, our view was of the back alley. My advice would be to check this place out, but come with an adventurous spirt and appreciate a unique, personalized experience you won't find elsewhere.

“Cooperstown Hotel -Your best value year round”

Tunnicliff Inn

I paid $50 bucks a night in the offseason for my queen room! They said it would be a little higher next year but would include a breakfast. Also, they have 2 for 1 dinners in the offseason.

This hotel has the best downtown location if you are going to the Hall of Fame. Everything you need is within walking distance.

My room was very small with no frills, but clean. Its a historic hotel so its a little creaky going up 2 flights of stairs (no elevator) but I really didn't mind.

The hotel is run by a fairly short staff. Tom is the main man at the dest and was fantastic as a host. The rest of the staff did a fine job as well. Very friendly.

I will be back to Cooperstown and will Stay at the Tunnicliff again.
