My wife, 7 yr old son and I stayed one night in mid February, as a base to visit Howe's Caverns (approx. 45 minute drive). Standard room had microwave and small fridge, hairdryer and coffeemakers. Room was not fancy, but comfortable and clean (carpet seemed pretty new). Good sized, well functioning TV. Free breakfast buffet was fine including make your own waffles (batter, not frozen), steakhouse across the parking lot OK also. McDonald's within short walk. Pool on the small side, but clean enough and good for children (max 5 feet deep). Hot tub close by pool, easy to keep an eye on the smaller ones.
This place isn't the Ritz for sure, but if you're looking for a decent 3 1/2 star hotel to hang your hat for a day or two, it's fine. Not sure why other reviews so negative.. if we were going to be back in this area, we would definitely return. Ideal location for Baseball Hall of fame.

I booked this hotel for a family trip to Cooperstown before I read any of the reviews. After reading some I was a little worried.

About a week before our trip I received a phone call from a lady at the hotel to confirm our reservation, she was pleasant and very helpful. Upon check in i spoke with the same lady who said she remembered talking to me and our room was ready as discussed.

The hotel is about a 10 minute drive from the Hall of Fame and close to lots of food choices. It is also a 20 minute drive from Oneonta which has many more food options as well as shopping.

The hotel rooms were clean and quiet and the breakfast offered was adequate to get a jump on the day. Wireless internet and high spped cable are available in the rooms and a big screen TV in the lobby allows you to watch tv in a comfortable and cozy setting.

We will certainly keep this place in mind next time we visit Cooperstown.

So after getting lost, thinking we had gone to far, but not going far enough we landed in Cooperstown finally, we new there was a Holiday Express and had planned to stay there, however it was by itself and the Best Western was next to the grocery store and other. We are very pleased, quiet, off the road a bit, so did not notice traffic noise at night, even though we were facing that direction. Mc Donalds and Pizza Hut are within walking distance, so is a grocery store, "the Bean" which sells breakfast, and a Steackhouse. You will need to drive into Cooperstown for the Hall of Fame but there is parking in town. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean, and the price is reasonable. There is a pool, and a little arcade room (6 games) so kids would be happy. I am surprised by some of the previous comments, and if you are not expecting a 5 star hotel for cheap money, you will be pleased. I give it 4/5

I agree with skx927..avoid this hotel and stay next door at the Holiday Inn Express. I stayed here with my wife and kids (14 and 11) as a stopover on the way to Boston. On our return we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. On our arrival we were 'greeted' by a grumpy slovenly woman who gave us a really bad first impression of Cooperstown. The place was dated, and the pool area looked dirty. When we returned to Cooperstown, my family and I were dreading it, due to our bad experience here (miserable staff, depressing feel to the place, tacky lobby). However, we checked in to the afformentioned H.I.Express to be very pleasantly surprised. The difference in the 2 hotels is vast. The Holiday Inn has well trained, courteous and smart staff. The decor is tasteful and the quality of the room and furnishings so much better....STAY THERE INSTEAD. Now we have a much better opinion of Cooperstown.
