I booked a room for myself and my 14 year old son for a special trip for his 14th birthday. The Best Western Inn and Suites and especially it's staff proceeded to ruin a good weekend in Cooperstown.
When checking in I was informed by a young man that the room that I booked(and was reassured at time of booking) was actually a smoking room. I was upset by that news, but refused to have it ruin the weekend so I let it go. The room was fair. The bed linens were old and pilled and I could not use the pillows they smelled foul.and discusting. So, o.k. we spent most of the time in the great little Main St area and I let that go. Sunday morning we got up and decided to utilize the "free" breakfast. We arrived in breakfast room a bit past 9:00. We were told that breakfast was available until 9:30. NO coffee, minimal food, a few containers of stale pastry and warm canned fruit. It was AWFUL. I asked the man if he could make more coffee and he very rudely told me NO. Drink decaf. RUDE! I wentto the manager who's name is "Scott" and he came out and I explained that It was my understanding breafast was until 9:30. Yes, at this point I was upset. He proceeded to tell me to "Get out of his face" This manager is rude and ignorant and should not be in the hotel business. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. IT IS AWFUL AND MANAGEMENT IS RUDE. STAY NEXT DOOR AT THE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS. My friends stayed there and loved it.

The room was VERY dirty. There was dust on everything. The bedding had a foul smell. The pool was green and had paint chips in it from the sides of the wall. We contacted the hotel and to this date have not contacted us back. If you want to feel like you are sleeping outdoors in the dirt then stay here. But if you expect a clean room find another hotel.

My wife, 7 yr old son and I stayed one night in mid February, as a base to visit Howe's Caverns (approx. 45 minute drive). Standard room had microwave and small fridge, hairdryer and coffeemakers. Room was not fancy, but comfortable and clean (carpet seemed pretty new). Good sized, well functioning TV. Free breakfast buffet was fine including make your own waffles (batter, not frozen), steakhouse across the parking lot OK also. McDonald's within short walk. Pool on the small side, but clean enough and good for children (max 5 feet deep). Hot tub close by pool, easy to keep an eye on the smaller ones.
This place isn't the Ritz for sure, but if you're looking for a decent 3 1/2 star hotel to hang your hat for a day or two, it's fine. Not sure why other reviews so negative.. if we were going to be back in this area, we would definitely return. Ideal location for Baseball Hall of fame.

I booked this hotel for a family trip to Cooperstown before I read any of the reviews. After reading some I was a little worried.

About a week before our trip I received a phone call from a lady at the hotel to confirm our reservation, she was pleasant and very helpful. Upon check in i spoke with the same lady who said she remembered talking to me and our room was ready as discussed.

The hotel is about a 10 minute drive from the Hall of Fame and close to lots of food choices. It is also a 20 minute drive from Oneonta which has many more food options as well as shopping.

The hotel rooms were clean and quiet and the breakfast offered was adequate to get a jump on the day. Wireless internet and high spped cable are available in the rooms and a big screen TV in the lobby allows you to watch tv in a comfortable and cozy setting.

We will certainly keep this place in mind next time we visit Cooperstown.
