After our very first visit a few years ago , we now try to visit Cooperstown every year. The only place we stay is the Inn at Cooperstown (very conveniently located to the village -- literally a stone's throw). We'll plan our schedule around their availability, if that tells you anything. Quite simply, the hospitality aspect is nothing short of outstanding. The inn is meticulously well-appointed and maintained, including the common areas and the actual guestrooms. There is an undeniably warm and comfortable feel to the place, and that extends to the staff, all of whom are extremely accommodating. They've always provided us with excellent service without being obtrusive -- a balance that is not always easily accomplished in the lodging industry. The Inn's attention to detail is superior, right down to the coffee, tea, and cookies that are available all day long in the room adjacent to the main living room. You get the sense that the innkeepers have really gone the extra mile to make you comfortable.

It does not take long at all after you've arrived for you to feel at home. You have the run of the place while you're there. Whether I was reading the paper by the fire in the living room, or playing cards or board games at a table in the breakfast nook, or just catching a nap in my room, the Inn provides the sort of atmosphere in which I can really relax and unwind. That quality is not easy to find. I never feel as though I'm simply passing through a lobby to get to my room -- you're made to feel as if the whole place is yours to use at your leisure. You genuinely feel as though you're home.

On our last visit, there were 8 of us that stayed. To a person, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Inn. My mother, someone who had always chosen to stay at franchise hotels, was made into a convert. Based on her experience at the IAC, she is now sold on bed-and-breakfasts and will not stay in a cold, impersonal hotel. In closing, I cannot recommend this establishment any higher. You will not regret a decision to stay here.

The Inn is tucked away in the quaint little town of Cooperstown, NY. It's super clean, beautifully decorated and the staff is over the top friendly and personable! It is located in the heart of the town where all the attractions (Baseball hall of fame and all the good restaurants and bars) are within a short walk-
The breakfast is hot and fresh and the owner was indeed informative about the happenings around town was quite the host- We would go back in a heartbeat- the only thing we kind of missed and wished for was a T.V in the room- I understand the concept of the B&B and respect that but needed to but it all out there! The Inn at Cooperstown gets big thumbs up from us over here in Vermont!

We stayed at the Inn at Cooperstown for 3 nights and were very disappointed. Although I had made the reservation months in advance, the room we got was on the 3rd floor, VERY small ( we could barely get between the bed and the dresser). This was a Standard Room. And for the price we paid, it was a bit shocking. Bathroom was also small.

I noticed that after our first night there, our sheets had not even been changed so I asked at the front desk and the response was that they get changed every OTHER day. I said fine since that meant they would be changed the next morning. Well, the next morning / afternoon came and went and the sheets were never changed!! 3 nights there and the sheets were NEVER changed.

There were no set wine and cheese receptions (or any get togethers) at night to meet the other guests or even the owners. We stayed there 3 nights and never met either of the owners. It was run much more like a hotel than a bed and breakfast. And I could have saved a lot of money by staying at a hotel instead - and gotten a much bigger room.

The location was the only thing we enjoyed. It is one block from downtown which was nice to be able to walk to everything. But the ambiance, lack of hospitality and personal attention left a lot to be desired. We were very disappointed.

We too are disappointed that the guest did not enjoy their stay at The Inn at Cooperstown. Based on the guest’s expectations, it seems as though they may have been looking for the kind of intimate experience that could be found at a smaller, bed & breakfast-style property where the owners live on premise. The staff at the inn works hard to ensure that the “fit” for guest and the inn is the best possible.

The Inn at Cooperstown is a beautifully restored historic hotel with 17 guest rooms. The inn was built as a hotel in 1874. In the restoration efforts to provide the conveniences that are required by today’s travelers, some compromises had to be made to outfit each room with a private bath. The nature of these renovations resulted in some rooms being slightly smaller than others. This is a very common occurrence with historical lodging properties and we are frequently complimented on the size of the guest rooms given the age of the building.

As is standard practice in the lodging industry, the inn participates in a water conservation program. For guests staying at the inn for multiple nights, this means that sheets are not changed out every day unless requested. The Inn at Cooperstown does sheet changes for multiple night stays prior to the third night unless otherwise requested by the guest. The housekeeping staff has a log to track all sheet changes and special requests. Upon inspection of that log for the past month, all sheet changes and special requests were completed. The innkeeper has reviewed the sheet change policy with the front desk and housekeeping staff to ensure that special requests receive prompt attention.

Due to the size of The Inn at Cooperstown and the nature of our guest’s schedules and preferences, holding receptions and/or group activities is just not practical. When the inn is fully booked, there can be 34 to 37 guests staying with us. We certainly offer our guests the space and casual atmosphere in which they can meet and get to know each other as desired. In our sitting rooms hot drinks and cookies are available throughout the day and evening. On the rocking chair-lined front porch, cold drinks are offered during the afternoon in the summer months. Guests are welcome to bring their favorite beverages to the common areas to enjoy. Set ups for wine and beer are available as well.

The innkeeper/owner of The Inn at Cooperstown is on premise almost every day and makes an attempt to meet as many guests as possible. There are times when he must tend to activities and duties off-site. The front desk staff is available from 7:30 am through 11 pm to assist our guests with special requests, recommendations and reservations for dinner and other activities, and to provide the customer hospitality. Providing the finest customer service and hospitality is the number one goal for The Inn at Cooperstown.

It just does not get any better than this - and, of course, if you read the other reviews, you understand that I am not the only person who thinks this.

Proximity to attractions is excellent - the staff is great - and I could probably spend the rest of my life on that front porch.

One notable thing: this is not the true B&B experience - to the extent that you do not feel like you are staying in someone's home. This is just a small, beautiful hotel, and we never got the impression that there was someone looking over our shoulders.

Because it has the only Baseball Hall of Fame in the known universe, Cooperstown is filled with B&Bs. If you are traveling there, I would seriously consider this one.

For many years, I had dreamed of visiting Cooperstown, NY. I finally made it there last week and the visit was very enjoyable due in no small measure to the great experience I had at The Inn at Cooperstown. Marc Kingsley and his staff are very gracious hosts. The Inn is located one block off Main Street within a 5 minute walk to anywhere in the Village. You will love your stay at the historic Inn at Cooperstown.
