If you're looking to stay in the Cooperstown area, August Lodge in nearby Hartwick Seminary is a much better value than many of the places in Cooperstown and only 10 minutes away by car. The hotel is set at the top of a hill with a nice view of the surrounding countryside. The grounds include a small playground for kids, a swimming pool and hot tub, and a small picnic area with a gas grill. The hotel is new and the rooms and bathrooms are spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds and a balcony with deck chairs. The room had a kitchenette and there is a grocery store near by. The hosts were helpful with driving directions and advice.
My only complaint would be the noise from other rooms. While I did not find it nearly as unbearable as the last reviewer or spend a sleepless night, you could hear voices from the other rooms and a baby crying in the night. Light sleepers should probably stay somewhere else until some soundproofing is done. The breakfast was simple (fresh fruit, yogurt, cold cereals), but the hotel isn't billed as a bed-and-breakfast and I wasn't expecting anything, so I was happy with what I got.
