A variety of Plattsburgh museums highlight the town’s history as well as its artistic integrity.

Head for the Kent-Delford House for an interesting, hands-on look at Plattsburgh’s history. Highlighting the contributions of the Delord family who helped lead the town into its ultimate development, as well as participated in the War of 1812 and other pivotal events. The museum displays original artwork, glassware and other items belonging to the family, all while highlighting the town’s history. It’s located at 17 Cumberland Ave., and is open March through December.

The Clinton County Historical Museum is open year-round and highlights the history of the Lake Champlain area. China, glass, textiles, photographs and other items help bring this history alive. The museum is located at 48 Court Street in downtown Plattsburgh.

Head for Plattsburg’s city hall and see the Confiance Anchor recovered from Lake Champlain on September 11, 1814.  The anchor was lost of the British flagship  Confiance during the Battle of Plattsburgh on September 11, 1814.  If you are interested in learning more about the Battle of Plattsburgh visit the Battle of Plattsburgh Association museum campus on 31 Washington Rd, Plattsburgh, 12903 (just off Rt. 9).

If art is more your thing, head for the Art Museum of Plattsburgh State, which is located at Plattsburgh State University. It’s open year-round (except for the week after Christmas) and is free.
